Sustainable
Implementation of green infrastructure for public works projects
is a fairly new concept that many communities are considering in
efforts to become more sustainable. Green infrastructure in the
context of public works projects commonly refers to utilizing
natural ecological processes that mimic nature in engineered human
designs. Commonwealth is on the forefront of incorporating green
infrastructure into projects and we can utilize our expertise and
experience with your project. We have been involved with several
projects where we have proposed and implemented economical green
infrastructure alternatives involving bioswales, vegetated basins,
and porous pavement. Many of these alternatives have proven to
reduce costs and conserve energy once implemented and put into
operation. Members of Commonwealth's staff have been recognized as
leaders in the implementation of green infrastructure by the City
of Indianapolis, with a member currently serving on the City's
Green Building Task Force.
