Potable Water
Potable water is the drinking water we assume will come out of
the faucet when we turn it on each day. Indiana is blessed with an
abundant supply of ground and surface waters, but converting all
that water to a state considered "potable" requires the highest
levels of experiences, technology, and skills. The Commonwealth
Engineers' Potable Water Team is committed to helping communities
throughout Indiana provide plentiful and safe drinking water for
all.
To that end, the Commonwealth Engineers Potable Water Team
represents expertise in both conventional and new technologies for
system improvements. Our accomplishments include projects related
to all aspects of potable water: wells, surface intakes, treatment,
chemical feed, pumping, water mains and storage. In addition, we
have effectively mastered all planning components associated with
the development of preliminary engineering reports, master plans,
wellhead protection plans, vulnerability assessments and emergency
response plans.
You can be confident the Commonwealth Engineers Potable Water
Team stays current on all new and proposed regulations from the
Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These rules govern both
ground and surface water treatment, contaminants, and construction,
operations and maintenance, and operator certifications. In fact,
the Commonwealth Engineers Potable Water Team has over 65 years of
combined experiences in helping communities meet and exceed all
regulatory requirements and local needs.
