Re: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
On February 17, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 became law. It provided $787 billion in funding and tax law changes which are designed to help stimulate our nation’s economy.
This economic stimulus legislation provides funding opportunities to local governments in Indiana. There are several provisions under this Act which allows for funding of local infrastructure projects. Funding for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and road projects have been allocated to the state. Several state and federal agencies will determine how these funds will be spent and the requirements associated with them.
Commonwealth Engineers has been monitoring this Federal stimulus funding and we have concluded that in order to receive any consideration for potential low interest loans and/or grants, an engineering report must be completed. Simply stated, this document is necessary to establish the project’s needs and costs. It is the first step in making your project, “shovel ready”. Readiness seems to be “key” in determining those communities who will be eligible for stimulus funds. Those currently in line for some of this funding were so positioned by having completed their engineering work ahead of the passage of this law.
Commonwealth Engineers would be happy to discuss how your community may benefit from this program. Please visit our website www.commonwealth-engineers.com for updated information on stimulus funding requirements. We will continue to monitor this unique opportunity for stimulus funds and hope that your project can contribute towards turning our nation’s economy around!
Please call us if we can be of any assistance.
Sincerely,
Vincent S. Sommers
